IRFan will do screen capture, CTRL-F11. Click and drag the crosshair after the capture to crop out unwanted stuff. Or, you can always do the "ALT-Print Screen" option, then copy & past from clipboard into IRFan or any other image software, Word, etc. "ALT-PrintScreen" captures the active window to the paste buffer.
For a dedicated screen capture program, I also like "Screen Hunter", another freeware program that allows you to select with the mouse the area you want to capture.

My prefered image management software is Picasa, have been using for a couple years now. Free and works really well to keep things organized. Free webspace to publish albums to as well.
