Ben,

Mount your battery remotely over the rear axle. It'll increase your traction to keep that big block from spinning the wheels off the line.

I'm considering the Optimas too. I have two in my boat that are attached to a three stage charger with a battery temperature sensor. It definitely keeps them in tip top shape. Too bad the GM regulator isn't externally adjustable or temperature compensated. But then, they wouldn't be $40 at Autozone any more...
