Ben, others-
Looking for some wisdom on steering maintenance for my new-to-me RV. We bought a 1988 26' Class C on a Ford Econoline 350 1-ton chassis, Ford 460 EFI motor w/ C6 tranny.
Anyway, the steering is a a bit loose. Have installed new front shocks, and have determined the center-link needs replaced. I also plan on installing a steering stabilizer on the front, new rear shocks and alignment as well.
My questions are on the other steering components- tie-rod ends, bushings, etc. I don't know much about steering components, how easy/difficult to replace, etc. Would you recommend replacing the tie-rod ends and various bushings simply as PM? Which ones should I replace? Or would it be more time/cost advantageous to pay the alignment shop to install them? If I do them myself, I assum I should do it before getting the alignment. The components themselves are not all that expensive.
Thanks for opinions...
