Ironically, government subsidies seem to drive up the prices of solar panels by driving up demand and make them less accessible to the general public.

Hope the Chinese can make them cheaper. Price comparison I saw recently was 1 cent per kwh for a nuke plant and 26 cents per kwh for solar!

The solar paint (titanium oxide) solution some university professors developed is also very promising. May not cost much more then regular white paint when they are done with it.
