The deformed gasket is usually an indicator that something other than brake fluid was put in the master. You can assume every other piece of rubber in the system looks like that. Severe cases of contamination have resulted in every piece of rubber being replaced (hoses, wheel cylinders, calipers, master, ABS unit, prop valve). Normally the BRAKE light comes on for pressure differential problem or E brake engagement. The ABS light can come on for hundreds of reasons. Best to have mechanic check it out before your pedal drops to the floor as your stopping for that next light.
