: My kids range from 21 to 8, with three above 13. They still like to explore, swim, and hike. If we want real tourist traps, we can drive up to Vegas. Conversely, they do need "activities" to keep them content. Lazing about all day may not be the prime objective; closely followed by golf.

There are plenty of easy hiking trails that aren't a very far drive from Honolulu, Manoa falls for one, on the otherside of the island is Maunawili falls. Tourist site are Bishop Museum, Iolani Palace and Matsumoto Shave Ice on the North Shore and for souviners make sure you hit the Aloha Stadium swap meet, things are cheaper there as compared to in town.
