Being that this is now a Truck/SUV forum, I have a problem with the voltmeter, or perhaps something else in my 94 Chevy Pickup. Voltage reads high while engine is running. Near Red Line 19V. Voltage at lighter while running reads normal 14 to 15 volts. At this point suspect instrument problem. When engine shut off and key at acc, voltage on panel reads correct. Now I suspect voltage regulator, but appears contradictory to voltage found at lighter while running. I believe this is what is called a one wire alternator. Aftermarket Auto Zone. Been working for several years, have had problem for several years.
