The problem in the northeast is that in the winter time I can not use the hose as it is usually frozen.
I am still on my first set of Praise Dyno shoes in the back and on my 3rd set of front Praise pads. I am getting ready to get another set of front pads. They are the only brakes that I will use on the truck.
I just spent yesterday doing some more work on the truck. I needed to change an exhaust gasket. It is the one where the 2 down pipes meet together. What a pain to get the bolts off! There are 3 bolts holding the 2 plates together (where the gasket is). The studs are pressed on to one side with a nut on the other side. Of course I snapped off one of the studs ( the one with the least amount of access). It took me hours and hours to get the stud out. I broke 5 drill bits trying to drill it out. The stud must have hardened over the years from the constant heating and cooling. Luckily I have a 4 post lift in my garage to do this work, the truck barely fits in.
What a pleasure it is working with a lift.
To make matters worse the replacement gasket was the wrong one. It was for a 5.7L. Boy was I sorry I started that project. I get to spend Sunday trying to find the correct gasket and getting back under the truck.
I was also going to do the U joints but I can not get the drive shaft out and the original U joints look good.
I also changed the battery and serpentine belt. Hopefully it will be good to go.
