I have a good friend who is the original owner of a 1993 Toyota 4Runner. Vehicle is garaged every night, he drives it to and from work and on a couple hunting trips per year,as evidenced by the 146,000 miles on it's 16 year old odometer.
Since my youngest is turning 15, I had a "deal" with him to buy it in another 6 months for book value, around $2300. He has become a believer in maintenance, changed oil every 3K and rotated tires every 6K, and this car responded by giving the kind of service Toyotas are famous for. Paint is still shiny, interior has never been smoked in and looks brand new.
And then, he and his wife had some spare time yesterday, and they decided to go looking at new cars.
The 4Runner qualified under the C for C program, and their new '09 Camry came home. He turns the 4Runner in on Monday, so he's spending today pulling off any possible Craig's List/eBay possible sellable parts. (power mirrors, Weathertech floor mats, wheel caps, trailer hitch, etc.)
This vehicle has lots of miles left...sorry they won't be mine.
