: I have noticed that my oil pressure guage doesn't go as high as it used to. When I first start the burb - it comes up to 40 on the guage then drops to 20. Is that sufficient oil pressure? Do I need to replace the oil pump?? Is there an oil pressure sensor that could be getting weak???

Change the oil and filter. Try a higher grade oil and higher viscosity.

Synthetic will have the highest temp range

I know when my engine oil has lost something by the drop in PSI and if allowed to continue, starts to consume oil.

Or, your engine is worn and the heat expansion allows greater gaps, so oil is glowing by the rings to be burned in the combustion chamber
