Had an old mechanic show me a trick once. he would put the open end wrench on a set of flats on the nut and try and loosen, then move to the next set of flats, then the third and then back to the original again, and keep doing it. after a few times, the nut would come loose. (obviously only works where you can get all around the nut.) but interesting how it worked so well.
