Anything that sticks out in the air hurts gas milage. On my old '89 sub, I removed that deflector in the rear and the visor in the front and that was good for 1-2 MPG each on the highway.

My thought on snow on the roof is that if it blows off at 70 MPH or so it probably shouldn't be there. If it doesn't, it is sticking in dead air space and probably doesn't hurt mileage all that much. Sort of like a conformal shape. The weight might be another matter.

Of course, the first warm day and it'll all be gone anyways. Most of the pictures of the blizzard out east I've seen show wet pavement under the snow. It won't last long.

12.5 inches in Dallas? That would only slow us down for a day in Minnesota and probably wouldn't cause schools to close unless it was actively snowing in the morning, but it must seem like an ice age there.

For those of you out east, with 24"+ of heavy wet snow, we've had storms like that and even in Minnesota, it isn't fun. It's right at the edge of what we can deal with efficiently so it must be really bad where the biggest plow you have is on the front of a 2wd pickup.
