ok, sounds good to me probably over my head but want to try a couple of things before i send it in...
But, just for me to understand- I thought the whole dexcool syndrome thing in the long term was increased wear on the main bearings. *if it is main bearings is that something that can be done on the vortec 7.4l by itself or am I likely looking at a complete rebuild?
To complicate matters, the fuel gauge goes wacky under half a tank of fuel and runs wild. Pump has the electric whine (but always has)..have read #1sons page on this- could be a bad fuel pump/sending unit, a bad ground or a baffle loose in the tank.... Question could a bad/intermittant ground be the cause this condition? i am thinking yes based on your post....
: There are more than a few possibilities, but a "chicken and the egg" question comes first:
:
: Does the hesitation happen because of the loss of oil pressure, or does the loss of oil pressure happen because of the loss of engine rpms?
:
: -If former, classic symptom of main bearings going bad
:
: -if latter, classic symptom of fuel pump intermittent; early sign of early fuel pump problems...
:
: and about twelve other possibilities. Definitely worth spending $100 and having a good technician do an official diagnosis. Rough guess is that it is unrelated to the coolant/intake manifold repair.
