1996 GMT400 K3500 3/4 ton Suburban 7.4L passed SMOG 'test only' this year.
Used to be a bit lower in emissions, but my mechanic says still cleaner than many 'cars' he works on. Last
one in 2008 was higher and know why. Didn't drive it enough before the test
Funny that the 'curb' is listed at 5,250lbs and I've weighed it at the local garden scales with me (180) and
the tool box (~200lbs) = 7,400 lbs.
Time to spend a couple weekends fixing tons of little things.
Not driven much. Just weekends, outings with 7 bicycles and towing a utility trailer.
Slight miss WOT and going to tune it (new plugs {non platinum}, wires, cap, rotor)
Mechanic sprayed some MAF cleaner to get rid of a slight miss before he took it over to the test only shop
These days it's on a dynmometer
At just under 160,000 miles looking at a new IMG, that dumb heater hose QC, flush the power steering/hydrobooster,
diff flush, tranny flush, coolant flush, etc.
Drivers side headlamp doesn't come on till it's rapped and know a connector going bad. Time to make that
direct battery feed harness been trying to find time and remember to do. Have some E-Code lamps but will have
to remove the front clip and make some brackets...another
time for that
Going to keep it till the wheels fall off, as the newer 8,600 GVWR Suburban's don't have the receiver
rating, nor the big block.
Still looks pretty good, to me...
