I need to replace the CKP on my 2002 3/4T, 8.1L, 4WD Suburban.
The sensor goes into the block at the rear of the engine. Access is *very* tight. There is a fuel line bracket the need to be removed before the sensor can be removed. The bracket is bolted to the back of the block :-(

Has anyone out there done this repair? The service manual procedure seems to require too much magic.

Does anyone have any hints on increasing the working space (i.e. raising/lowering the tranny), or a suggestion of some magic tool that will make it easer to remove the nuts/bolts?

Does anyone have an experienced mechanic in the San Diego area that they trust to return things the way they found it?

Thanks,
BurbyGuy (who wishes he had much smaller hands)
