I have a ScanGauge II on my Suburban and it's hooked up all the time. It has yet to throw a code when the Suburban is acting up.

Most of these problems all started to occur at about the same time.

I guess it could be a ground problem. I think I'll pull the battery, disconnect and inspect the ECM and speedometer cluster and then reconnect. Hopefully I just have a bad connection somewhere and this solves the problem.

This problem is starting to bother my wife to the point that she wants me to trade the Suburban in for a new truck. It makes her uncomfortable when we are on a trip, towing our travel trailer and the dashboard is lighting up like a pinball machine!

Thank goodness for the ScanGauge II and the GPS. The ScanGauge II tells me how much fuel I have remaining and the GPS tells me an accurate speed.

Keep the suggestions coming. I really need your help. I love my Suburban and don't want to trade it in.

: Commenting on fuel gauge/message only ...
:
: Some fuel system related DTCs will cause the gauge to read empty and the Low Fuel message to be set. For example, P1172 will do this.
:
: If there is a way you could get ahold of a scan tool, you could check for DTCs, and you could also look at the individual fuel level sensors (one for each of the front/back tanks). This might help understand the problem.
:
: Did all of these problems begin at the same time?
:
: : On those long trips the fuel gauge will stay at the same reading until the ignition is turned off and back on. On a couple of occasions the fuel gauge registers empty and the low fuel light come on with ¼ to ½ tank of gas in the tank. The ABS and Brake dash lights occasionally illuminate and usually stay on until the ignition is turned off (even on short trips).
