First: Normally when I hear fuel gauge complaints I immediately suspect the level sensor in the tank - a known HUGE problem on our vehicles. However, since his scan tool continues to shown him accurate levels, the tank sensor and the wiring to the PCM must be OK or the scan tool couldn't possibly show him accurate data. Certainly he could have some other wiring issue between the cluster and PCM but with his speedo issue and the fact that it is time-related (50+ continuous miles before failure) I'll bet on the cluster. Second: The ABS lights need a scan check of the BRAKE CONTROL MODULE to see what the codes are. Your scanner is probably just checking the PCM. Don't do anything for the brakes until you VERIFY if any ABS codes are set. I'd really use a TECH 2 for this aspect because aftermarket tools do a very poor job on chassis and body systems. And finally, while I agree that DELCO batteries have a positive post connection/leaking concern, we can't run to that everytime there's a perceived electrical anomaly. Sure it's easy to check for but we've all had this issue before, I've fixed at least 100 myself and 99% have the same symptoms.....occasional no cranks or total loss of power. I've certainly never seen one that cause a fuel gauge to stop after 50 miles, turns on ABS lamps over bumps and causes speedos to stop. That being said I would still check the connection, but more for the fact that they often go bad than trying to fix the bundle of issues. I've found it best when dealing with multiple issues, no matter how much you feel they are related, not to try and diagnose them all together. You just end up chasing your tail. Pick the easiest one and your diagnosis of that will let you know if any of the other issues are related. I think the easiest one for him is the fuel gauge. Fix that and see where it leads you.
