Had an oil analysis done by Blackstone Labs. No evidence of coolant in the oil.

Saved me an intake manifold job.

I'll try a new radiator cap and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the input,

Russell

: I guess it's finally time to replace my intake manifold gasket on my 2002 Suburban K2500 8.1 ltr with 140,000 miles. I'm still on the original IMG.
:
: On my last trip towing my 8,500 lb travel trailer I added almost 1/2 gallon on coolant over the 1,200 mile trip. I've been adding coolant regularly over the past few months. No sign of coolant puddles on the ground. Fuel economy has slowly been decreasing.
:
: Oil usage same the past few years. Add a couple of quarts between 5,000 mile oil changes.
:
: Anything else that could account for the coolant loss?
:
: What should I expect to pay a good independent mechanic to replace the IMG?
:
: Thanks,
