: I need to replace the muffler on my Chevy Lumina sedan ('97). I can get a walker 18581 muffler on Amazon for $45. I looked at the muffler on the car but it looks like it is welded on because I don't see any pipe clamps on it. I also don't see a connection anywhere close to the muffler.
: Can I replace this myself without welding or a torch (beside a basic propane one)? How do I get the old one off and can I connect the new one with just a clamp? I can't tell from the Walker web site if the new one can be bolted or welded.
: any ideas?

I just spoke with Walker tech support and they indicate that the new muffler bolts on to the pipe. My thought then is that I cut off the old muffler with my sawzall leaving as much of the pipe as I can. The new muffler has a 3" pipe that slides over the exhaust pipe and is bolted in. As long as I don't cut outmore than 2.5" of pipe, I think it should fit. Am I on the right track? Any tricks I need to know?
