a normally open switch is the type you'll need, the largest round one you can find is probably the best style. Where you mount it is entirely up to you say when you need it you need it and you don't want to be hunting for it.

The airbag issue shouldn't be taken too lightly, you do have to disable it to get to the horn switch, however for an experienced tech it isn't something to result in a cost increase. I'd at least let them price taking the airbag out and inspecting the switch...might be worth $50 to you.

With my driving style (one footed) I would probably mount a switch on the floor like dimmer switches were in the old days.....if I had to resort to bypassing Vs. fixing
