I have used one of their products, way back in the mid 90's on a 1987 GMC K1500.

Vinyl dye paint on the plastic, and a lot of prep work on the cracked up plastic original dash made the double stick tape very durable. Fit was fantastic, as I remember.

If your dash is sitting loose on top of the metal, I would also be concerned. However, I would not hesitate to use some upholstery screws down through the original dash pad into the steel to reattach the p[ad. The washer on the screw would prevent pulling the head through the plastic, and would pull down far enough to allow the Coverlay to lay smoothly on top.

Go for it. The pebble grain plastic, when dyed properly, looks exactly like the vinyl of the original dash pad.
