Receiver hitch rusting in.

I've been having more and more of a problem in recent years with the hitch rusting into the receiver on my truck. I like to leave a hitch in for convenience and also because my super bright back up lights are mounted on it. I have one trailer with a 2" ball, and have to change the hitch from time to time. Last time it took four hours of beating on it with a hammer after spraying in penetrating oil over several days to get it out, and it had only been in for the summer.

When I got it out, only a few scratches on the hitch side were rusted, the powder coating was largely intact. The hitch itself has been exposed for 10 years and there's lots of rust inside the receiver.

Is there a trick grease or coating to prevent this? Dielectric grease on the hitch? Different coating? Come up with a better way to push it out?

Enquiring minds want to know.
