AC system

My 2002 2500 Suburban with rear air has had an AC problem the last 5 years or so.

Every spring my mechanic recharges the system and it works for about 3 months before a slow loss of refrigerant. he says his equipment can't find a leak. He also says it could be a bad compressor allowing the refrigerant loss. I am guessing it could also be a slow leak in a hidden place (evaporator in front or rear heater AC box).

If I need a new compressor, should I buy the generic new compressor ($260) or the Denso new compressor ($350)? I think the original compressor on the Subs is a Denso.

Any ideas in general on finding what's going on?

Thanks
Steve
