Battery connections. Battery cables.
Dollar to a donut it's the connections at the battery.
Do a search for Ben's numerous discourses on GM side post batteries and corrosion. While some of them may take it to a "sky is falling" level, it is true that the cables wick corrosion into them, and it is easy to not miss when doing a visual inspection.
If not the cables, I'd try a different battery. For an experiment, throw in an "el cheapo", and see if the problem remains. Sounds like something is moving around, so if it's not the cables, next guess would be a broken pole on the battery or a loose connection inside, causing a loss of current.
