: I should have told you that I have a 1999 K2500 Suburban with the 454 engine, 4x4, and tow package.

We have the same truck (mine is a 1996), have done this a couple of times and your post reminds
me it is about time again... :)
Toughest part is that the rubber hose ends vulcanizes to whatever they are hose clamped to.
Other wise just work and the toughest part is laying down there and getting stuff on me.
Careful on breaking that vulcanized union. I either cut it off or take a small, thin bladed
screw driver and poke it into the end and wiggle it to break the union all the way around.
Take off the bottom plastic air dirverter, or whatever it is called. I take the battery out and
this time the tray if it will also come off (and do some repaint/etc on that sheetmetal). Toughest
part is where the frame gets in the way and wish my arms were longer... :(
Make sure the bottom hose has a wire either molded in or insert, as there is a vacuum (can't
use the right word, as our filter forbids) and will collapse that hose when it's hot.
Keep the take off if it's in decent condition and put it in your on-board toolbox as an emergency
spare, especially if you off road. Ditto that with the serpentine belt (and have just noodled a
use for them as jar top openers).
I also flush the coolant, as it's mostly out anyway. Check #1 Son's place for the HOW2's on that.
Good luck!
