: Also wanted to mention that I recently picked up a 2001 Ford Excursion with a 7.3 diesel so reading up on diesel maintenance these days and took out a second on the house to pay for fuel :-). Not a lot of hybrid choices for vehicles to haul 5 kids and horse trailers!

If you haven't found it already, check out Ford Trucks Enthusiasts. There are forums for nearly every Ford truck ever made, as well as nearly every engine Ford ever sold.
I 'spect you'll find your new Big-E to be about the same size as your '91 in terms of size and handling. It continually amazes me how they got excoriated in the press, when they weren't but marginally bigger than an older 'burb. They're very nearly The State Car of Texas around here.
