OT...DirectX, what the heck?

Now that I've got the workstation back on line and reloading updates, find that a new bubble/window pops up asking if it can download a 'DirectX' update?!?

What the heck...I didn't see it listed, but it must have been bundled with some update driver/software/etc.

Clusty.com says gaming and video as the main applicatons, **BUT** it is also one of the favorite routes by baddies for all kinds of malicious infections. Says to reload the OS, but that is too painful, for now.

Anyone know HOW2 get rid of all DirectX software?
