: Question is can you take an 8.1l from an 03 Sierra 2500HD and put into a 95 K2500 with a 7.4L? Would the 4L80E bolt up or would you be able to use the allison tranny? Been noodling to see if it could be done as a swap?

I'd think easier to just unbolt the Suburban body and then bolt it to the 2500HD's frame.
The VIN goes with the body, right?
The only interface would be the stuff bolted to the body that needs to be changed/swapped out.
Like the computer and that is about it.
The radiator, hydrobooster, AC expansion unit, etc.
Toughest part that I can think of is the spare & fuel tank.
Oh yeah, the Alli is too big for the body tranny tunnel, so it will need to have a body lift.
Now that I think about it a bit more...maybe easier to swap out the engine. I've been told
that the 4L85E comes with it and it is based on the 4L80E, so it 'should' fit, but I'm not
positive.
There was a guy who was converting Suburbans to Duramax & Allison. He said the computer really
didn't need much changed. Do a search and maybe you can find his contact info or he will post
here. Do a search in the archives.
To me, bottom line cost to benefits would be cheaper to build a 7.4L up. The biggest issue
will be the computer and sensors.
