1999 acura integra - 45,000 miles, no rust
Just drove by my mechanic's place. He took a quick look and saw that it appears to be a broken wire in the sensor harness related to a prior accident repair. I keep finding these little issues from that accident (it happend before I purchased the car). My mechanic keeps telling me that the car is worth the effort to repair. Hopefully he can splice the wire instead of replacing hte entire sensor and harness.
While he was looking at it, he notices that the front bumper was damaged in one corner. Looks like either my daughter (the daily driver) bumped something in a parking lot or someone bumped her. Nice 5-6 inch crack in the plastic bumber cover near the right fender. I am inclined to leave it because although the crack is visible, the bumper is structurally intact (not sagging). It was not perfectly aligned when I got it so no great harm done.
There is a pull-a-part type "auto recycling center" that opened up not far away so I am keeping my eyes open for a similar vehicle to go harvest some spare and replacement parts. nothing in inventory that matches just yet.
Always an interesting trade off between fully functional and "no damage" when it comes to spending money.
