'IF' your trailer 'actually' weighs 6,000lbs (you should weigh the whole setup axle by axle, both empty and fully loaded) in order to know where you are in reference to your ratings.

I don't have the spec's available right now, but a quick search on GM's media site finds spec's for a 2003 Suburban and is close enough for discussion purposes.

The MTWR for a 3/4 ton Sub is 16,000lbs, but that is for a 'curb' weight Sub (base model) and factored by what is actually loaded into/onto/options/etc the Suburban.

'Factored' by the diff ratio, tire dia (rev's per mile), and a host of other variables.

To give you gist of the above....a 3/4 ton Suburban has a 8,600lb GVWR with a MTWR of 10,000 lbs (newer has a 12,000lb MTWR).

That is a base model, but if you load up your Sub to it's 8,600 lb GVWR before hooking up the trailers tongue, you have no capacity (rating) left for that tongue weight.

There is a bit more, but not enough time right now to go into details. I'll come back later to finish this off.

Here is the 2004 PDF, but not as much detail: http://media.gm.com/division/2004_prodinfo/chevrolet/trucks/pdf/04_Chevy_Suburban.pdf
