This afternoon, like in the last two hours, one of my tires suddenly went flat. Turns out the rubber valve stem has deteriorated in the summer sun, cracked, and now will not hold air. This is the 2nd valve that has failed in this way since the new tires and valves were installed in 2004. Tomorrow it goes to the tire shop to get all four valves replaced - hopefully with a different brand.
Like many of you, my Suburban is mostly parked these days. And mine was parked when the valve failed. But if this happened at highway speeds, I shudder to think what the results could have been!
FWIW, according to the cap, the valve manufacturer is EHA. In 35 years of driving, I've never had valve stem failure before. So my advice is to check yours carefully for cracks, and double check them if they are EHAs.
