Good to know and will noodle some additional mods if I decide to put an external pump. Won't change the routing back, as I don't know if an accumulator will mess it up, but would love to plug up the return line and put in an accumulator.

This one way system will have the pump off more often if the accumulator is sized big enough.

I've used those 'forever' in tank filters on hydraulic systems for industrial controls. They are problematic, as the 'flushing' action that it depends on some times doesn't clean it well enough. Plus some times algae grows on the filter element (wacky that some algae can grow in/on petrochemical products).
