One is 4x4, other 2WD (4x2). Can't remember which is which, but gessing R is 4x4, as C is/was reference to 2WD. Transfer case and front axle/diff, or the 4x4 stuff added.

Otherwise, both the same vehicle.

Don't know that era much. Maybe some else will know.

Remember, these are 'trucks', so 100K-200K is well within their 'mid' life....* IF *....taken care of.

The only down side is fuel milage, but a tow vehicle (TV) isn't supposed to have great MPG. That isn't why I buy/own them. TV first and foremost.
