Dropped the drive shaft and popped off the tail peice over the slip yoke. Once the tail was off, I could see the retaining ring was still intact, and the rear of the main shaft was not moving back and forth. (suprising)
With the transmission in nuetral, I rotated the main shaft tail and did not note any unusual sounds.
With the transmission in gear, I rotated the main shaft tail and heard the light squeak. The squeak could be heard in forward rotation only; not reverse. Using a screwdriver, I could (sort of) trace the sound to the input area of the t/case. It did not appear to be near the front output shaft, or the very rear.
I guess I will button it back up and put in the cv grease as an additive and see how it sounds.
