: Now my system is dead and won't reboot.

I just wrote about a book worth of info for you but lost it in one of those wonderful "what just happened?" moments. Try these links and email me if you have questions. The most important thing to keep in mind is the replacement value of your PC compared to parts (and labor if you have someone else deal with it). A PC that is out of warranty is probably worth less than $300 and an entry level PC on sale is about $400 with all new parts. The replacement cost equation is not the same as on your truck. Replacing a motherboard (and probably the CPU if the socket is different) can run $150 - $200 in parts alone to get something beyond entry level. That may be more than 50% of your PC's value and not something I recommend doing.

Good luck.
