I have a two piece drive shaft on my Suburban ('85), of which the bearings have disintegrated on the leading universal of the second half of a two piece drive shaft. Tried to slide the shaft off the mid section slide-yoke after unbolting the rear universal joint from the diff., but there seems to be a stoper inside the slider preventing its removal.
So I removed the four outer snap rings on the front universal, of the above mentioned drive shaft, in a hope to drop the spider out, but no luck. Seems like the bearing cups are pressed in.
Anyone know how to remove the leading universal spider of a two piece drive shaft? Or, how to release the slider off, of the drive shaft?
