In Reply to: How to make computer codes flash out on the dash? posted by Brian on December 13, 02 at 18:44:35:
: I have a 95 gmc burb 350 4x4, that the service engine soon light flashes occasionly. The air bag light also started to flash today. It runs fine except for a little bit of a rough idle.
This works on computer equipped trucks up to and including 1995:
Straighten out a paperclip then bend it into a big "U".
Turn ignition on, engine not running. MIL "Malfunction Indicator Lamp" in instrument cluster is on steady. Insert the paper clip ends into terminals A and B on the Data Link Connector under the driver's side dash. A & B are on the upper row of the two rows and are the rightmost two sockets. The MIL will then begin flashing your codes. Each code repeats 3 times. For example, it should start with code 12: one flash, pause, two flashes, longer pause, repeat two more times. Write down your codes as they appear on the light. If code 12 flashes 3 times, then it starts code 12 over again, you have no trouble codes set. 12="no tach pulses". Remove the paper clip and the system is ready to run.

It is probably an intermittent front wheel speed sensor.
I suggest you clear the ABS codes using the following procedure:Reset the ABS
Codes and Turn off Light:
" 1.) Turn the ignition switch "on".
2.) Use a jumper wire to ground DLC terminal A to terminal H for 2 seconds
3.) remove jumper wire for 1 second
4.) repeat grounding A to H for 2 seconds
5.) Antilock brake light turns off, and all trouble codes are cleared.
They suggest using a remote starter button, but any switch will do.
Viewing the data link connector: A is the upper rightmost position. H is on the
lower row, second from the left."
See if any codes come back.
To read the codes:
"DTC's can be read by jumping terminal H to terminal A of the DLC. Count the
flashes of the antilock lamp."
ABS code 13 is "normal system, 2WD, brake pedal applied. (12 is brake pedal
released).
