I have a WG contract on both my burb and the wife's venture. Here is a good example of a small repair getting big.
The wife complained the remote keyless was not working, so I did the obvious, replaced the batteries on the remotes. No luck... still would not work. So I told here to take it to the dealer and have them look at it while they were changing the belts and hoses (99 w/70K).
Needed a new belt tensioner - $50 part, $50 labor WG PAYS
Keyless entry----real bad news, looks like there was a short in the steering column/key and it has fried the system. Dealer is replacing the hardware in the steering column (very difficult to get to). Parts replaced and the pass lock system was also fried.
Warranty Gold is paying all of it, except the belts and hoses I had them replace.
BallPark estimate is in the $800-900 range, will find out exact numbers tomorrow and let you all know.
Impressions-- Warranty Gold is great, but it does slow down the repair in this case since significant diagnostics must be performed which cause the dealership pause and "wait for approval" to replace a part. No real complaints, just drags the repair out a bit.
I could rent a car and have WG pay $30 a day, but you know how that is, sometimes it is almost not worth the trouble to rent one.
