About two weeks ago I posted about the P-D setup on our '99 Tahoe 4-door 4x4. Subsequent postings focused on price vs. benefit, etc.
Well, this morning my wife and I were on our way to work on I-355 just south of I-88 in the western suburbs of Chicago. This kid/moron was driving a late model Chevy Cavalier ahead of me to the left (in the next lane). He nearly rear-ends a mini-van going about 60 and because he's following so close, has to cut in front of me to avoid hitting the van. He almost lost control, I jammmed on the brakes, ABS activates, and tire smoke is coming out everywhere from this Cavalier.
The guy behind me nearly hits me, the kid then accelerates and jumps ahead, then swerves BACK over to the left, cutting across THREE lanes of traffic and is gone.
Once we recovered, my wife says to me: "We never would have made it with the old brakes, would have we"?
Nothing like an ABS panic stop at highway speeds. I am 100 percent positive the P-D setup saved us.
