If you have a 96, you do not have a throttle body. In 96 when GM switched to the Vortec, they also went to Multi-port Fuel Injection. Basically with a port system the injectors are mounted on the intake manifold so the fuel spray is directed just before the intake valve.
Anyway, to get to your question. The two most common problems on a GM's fuel delivery system are #1, the fuel pump went out, or #2 your fuel filter is clogged. If you cannot "hear" the buzz of your fuel pump, then I would bet thats the culprit. Check your fuel flow before and after your filter to determine if the filter is bad.
Good Luck,
