In Reply to: To Warranty or not to Warranty? - That is the question posted by joder on January 12, 02 at 08:50:56:
: Do you think I am likely to encounter that much in repairs in the next two years? I know its really just a gamble, but I'd like to hear from anyone who's had expensive repairs. Should I pay, or gamble?

Warranty is a VERY personal option! Some people buy lots of insurance and others will take a chance. YOU yourself will have to make that decision.
If you opt for for it, then, the quest become whether or NOT the quoted prices are worth it. I'll look at it this way:
- The 1999 model has 3 years of factory warranty (assuming that you inherited it). That means you will have almost another year left from it.
- If the above is the case, the NET warranty periods for the above quotes are actually shorter by that much!
- Specifically for the 2 year one, you will have only about a year and a half covered for $1800.
- There MAY be some other after market places, like Warranty Gold (www.warrantygold.com), where you can get a better deal
That's my 2 cents. Now, you decide!
