I use an old carpet sample to protect my leather seat from the bottom of the car seat. Flip it over so the carpet side is against the leather.
: I haven't tried this myself, but if you had an old sofa cushion or some kind of pad lying around, you could put it between the seat surface and the car seat to add some height, but more importantly, to add tension to the restraint.
: The thought came to me because I use a folded sheet to protect my leather from various food droppings, and the sheet adds just enough cushion to help with the tension.
