Sounds like they don't really know what they're doing. Their descriptions sound like vague attempts to disguise warranty inspections. I hope you did not have to pay for the service.
You don't recondition diff side bearings. They may have checked gear wear, spacers, and lash. The transfer case flush was to inspect the t-case gear engagement. Any metal debris would have fallen into the pan.
