We used to be a bit frisky when I lived in FL. After getting some new carpeting, I had some nice thick cardboard tubing about 6 feet long. Found a smaller, short tube that would fit inside long tube with tight fit. Now fabbed a small mortar with the small tube, conventional looking class C type, about a foot tall with plywood base. Put in somewhere near a teaspoon of FFFFg with 3" fuse. That would have been plenty of fun with just a ball of steel wool in it but as engineers go...
Bring out the "Dirty Harry" barrel that fit over the top, so we now have a 6' tube. Drop an empty soda can down the barrel and see what happens. Amazed that 1. it still stood upright without falling over, 2. the can would go about 75' high with a great "tube" sound. After a while, got bolder and friend drops down a full coors lite can, "silver bullet". KaaWooosh!! It's way up there but as we watch the speck we realize it's coming down somewhere nearby. Run for cover... Splat!! Cool, but a waste of good beer. Where are the diet coke cans?
And so it went. Next weekend friend comes over and we figure out a nifty use for empty 2-liter soda bottles.
