Agree, don't run dry. Estimate on safe side.
I made the mistake of underfilling when I went to start up and check level. I ran the gear selector thru the gears to get air out and found I had barely any engagement. Not a great feeling when your DIY job to save $100. may have cost $ 3000. However the beef of the 4L80E saved me from anything other than embarrasment.
