I just had the same failure on my 2002 K2500 Suburban. Mine was intermittent and would go on and off as you drove over bumps. It was really annoying as every time it went on it would go through the start sequence as though you just turned the key to on. I took it apart and it turned out there was a bad solder joint on the connector on the board(must have been the 12V power in) that connects to the wiring harness. I jammed a piece of foam between the connector and a dash support nearby, which kept it working by pushing the connector pins against the circuit board. This allowed me to drive it until the dealer got the new cluster in and replaced it under warranty.

What was interesting is that one of the gauges still worked even when everything else was dead. I think it was the oil pressure gauge, which must not rely on 12v to the cluster to operate.

: My wife just called me at work to tell me that as she was driving home this morning, she realized that all of the guages were dead - speedometer, fuel, temp etc. as well as the driver information display were all off. Any ideas on what it could be? I will be taking it in to the dealer tomorrow, I was just wondering if anyone else had seen this.
