Fan clutchs come in 3 levels.
OEM/standard duty. Couples approx 50%-60% of water pump shaft rpms to the fan blade. Turns on at about 170*F (don't know the hysteresis).
Heavy Duty and Servere duty. Couples approx 80%-90% of water pump shaft rpms to the fan blade. Ditto turn on. Don't know the difference between HD & SD either. Guessing bearing sizing for the added fan blade HP loading.
When my SD turns on, ROARs and see temp gauge needle drop like a rock.
Put in a barbed "T" at both ends of the OEM external cooler and plumb the new one to the "extra" barb.
