Based upon this response to my original post I'm wondering what's involved in serviceing these items.
Now that I've towed a little it seems to me that this is probably giving me some front end wander especially when I'm towing. It looks like the tires are suffering as well.
Hard to do in your driveway?
Parts cost?
Labor cost?
:I had similar play in mine and it turned out to
be worn Pitman and Idler arms, not coincidentally the
hardest zerk points to get at on my truck (same year,
size as yours).

: When I first got my 99 K2500 I took it to my prefered tire/suspension place to see what they thought of the alignment and condition. The good news was that what originally looked like blown CV boots was actually the result of some hyperactive grease monkey (literally) that over lubed the ball joints, that do have torn rubber, and it all landed on the CV boots was throw around making quite a mess. It even fooled me after a quick inspection. The ball joints seem to be fine except for the rubber so for now I'll just keep them lubed and replace them when their clearly worn.
: After cleaning all the grease off yesterday I did some of my own checking on the front end one thing has me concerned.
: With (only) one wheel off the ground in the front I get steering play of about 1/8-5/32 at the outer side wall of the tire about 1.5 inches from the tread.
: Ideally there should be none but what's acceptable for these trucks with 85K?
: It's the same on both front wheels.
: Which part(s) need replacement/adjustment.
