I have been reading the debate about the strength of GM receivers on the gm-trucks.com board. Ben has been posting comments about the weakness of the GM design. I am awaiting the delivery of my new travel trailer later on tonight. The Hensley Arrow hitch is sitting in my garage awaiting the trailer. After reading the comments concerning weakness of the factory hitch, I called Hensley to discuss the matter. The Hensley rep said that they have had GM receivers fail with their Hensley Arrow.
I have decided to replace the factory receiver with a good aftermarket one. Why take a chance with so much on the line if a hitch breaks loose? The cost is minimal compared to the Sub, trailer, and most important, human life.
Does anyone have a recommendation on the brand? Also can I upgrade the type to a stronger one (ex. Class V vs Class IV)? I'm not even sure what the factory receiver type is (I'm sitting at the PC at work right now and can't look).
BTW, I have a new E-mail address, sgojevic@ultra-scan.com.
Thanks
