Probably better be safe than sorry. I dont think I did any damage last year, probably towed 5 or 6 thousand miles total. Transmission seems OK, shifts positive, crisp, no slippage that I can detect. Vehicle either has 176,000 or 76,000 miles on it, not sure. I think the tranny is original. Bought it from a M.D. who says he didnt drive it much and that it only had 52,000 miles on it back in 2001 when he sold it to me. I think maybe he wanted to go fishing and stuff, but didnt have the time. Either way tranny and motor are real good. I think I will put an aluminum pan with plug, cooler and temp gauge in it. I will take your guys advice and keep in out of OD when towing. The trailer is not very heavy though and the motor and tranny dont seem like they are working very hard. In fact it would be real easy to forget the trailer is back there.
